Radicalism Threatens Jude Law’s King Henry VIII In Firebrand Trailer
Based on true events, Firebrand takes viewers to blood-soaked Tudor England where Katherine Parr (Alicia Vikander) agrees to become the sixth wife of the tyrannical King Henry VIII (Jude Law).
In the trailer, Parr joins a long line of women who have been divorced, beheaded, or have died (Six the Musical, anyone?!). Her fate is her unwieldy desire to change the kingdom forever. However, radical Protestant beliefs arise to threaten the King. When Parr spots her childhood friend Anne Askew preaching those beliefs, she becomes excited.
Of course, the King’s courtiers suspect that she’s sympathetic to radicalism and scheme against her by casting doubts upon her fidelity to the increasingly ailing and paranoid King. Under strict scrutiny, Parr can’t bear her growing curiosity and must unleash her own scheme in order to survive. Eddie Marsan, Simon Russell Beale, Sam Riley, and Erin Doherty round out the cast.
Firebrand premieres June 14 in theaters.
