Here’s Every Exciting Announcement from Disney’s D23 Expo

The House of Mouse has no intentions of slowing down anytime soon. The latest D23 Expo gave fans a plethora of exciting projects to anticipate this upcoming year. From Star Wars to Marvel, Broadway to Pixar, and to infinity and beyond, Disney is feeding their fans with exciting new and nostalgic content. If you didn’t get to see D23 live, don’t worry! We made you a cheat sheet of everything you need to know.

Moana 2

Moana and Maui are back together again in Moana 2. Auli’i Cravalho performed the new song “We’re Back” from the highly anticipated sequel to kick off D23.

Moana 2 hits theaters November 27.


Zootopia 2

Detectives Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde return to the big screen with their most puzzling case yet. When a mysterious reptile invades Zootopia and brings chaos to the city, it’s up to Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde to go undercover and crack the case. Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman return to voice Hopps and Wilde, and it was announced that Ke Huy Quan and Fortune Feimster will also join the cast as Gary and Nibbles.

Zootopia 2 hits theaters in November 2025.


Frozen 3

Do you want to build a snowman… again? Disney Animation’s Jennifer Lee, who wrote and directed the first two Frozen installments, shared a short tease for the upcoming third film and showed fans concept art for Anna and Elsa’s next adventure.

Frozen 3 is expected to hit theaters in 2027.


Avatar: Fire and Ash

The title of the third chapter of the Avatar series was unveiled by James Cameron, who was joined by Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington, on stage at D23.

Audiences will go back to Pandora with Avatar: Fire and Ash hitting theaters on December 19, 2025.


Win or Lose

In the first original series from Pixar, Win or Lose take us on an adventure through in the shoes of eight different characters as a band of children prep for their softball championship game. Whether it’s the insecure kiddo, the over-bearing mom and dad, or a hopeless romantic umpire, audiences will see it all. Will Forte was announced as the voice of the coach.

Win or Lose hits Disney+ on December 6, 2024.


Dream Productions

Fresh off the high of Inside Out 2 becoming the highest grossing animated film of all time, a new spin-off series from the world inside Riley’s head was announced. In Dream Productions, dreams do come true for Riley thanks to the tiny dream director in Riley’s head named Paula Persimmon, voiced by Paula Pell. This four-episode series will also feature Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Maya Hawke, Richard Ayoade, Ally Maki, Kensington Tallman, Liza Lapira, Tony Hale, Lewis Black, and Phyllis Smith.

Dream Productions is expected to hit Disney+ in 2025.


Elio

This Pixar feature film follows Elio, an outer space super-fan as he gets beamed into space to the Communiverse and is mistaken as Earth’s true leader. Yonas Kibreab voices Elio with Zoe Saldana voicing Elio’s Aunt Olga. Jameela Jamil and Brad Garrett are also lending their voices to this out-of-this-world film.

Elio releases in theaters on June 13, 2025.


Hoppers

Hoppers introduces audiences to Mabel, an animal obsessed girl who uses new technology to “hop” her conscience into a lovable robotic beaver. Piper Curda, Bobby Moynihan, and Jon Hamm round out the voice cast.

Hoppers hops to theaters in 2026.


Toy Story 5

Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton reveals some interesting clues about the plot of Toy Story 5. Buzz, Woody, and the rest of the gang face their biggest threat yet: technology. Will playtime ever be the same again?

Find out when Toy Story 5 premieres in theaters on June 19, 2026.


Incredibles 3

Incredibles 3 is officially in the works with with Oscar-winning director Brad Bird returning to develop the third installment of this super family’s story.


Skeleton Crew

Jude Law joined D23 to tell fans about his new Star Wars television series coming to Disney+. Skeleton Crew is told from the perspective of four children who discover their thought-to-be safe home world holds secrets that launch them into the dangerous galaxy and across the path of Jod Na Nawood, a mysterious character played by Law.

The first two episodes of Skeleton Crew will premiere on Disney+ starting December 3, 2024.


Andor Season 2

Diego Luna popped in at D23 to excite fans of the upcoming second season of the Emmy-nominated show Andor. Season 2 will follow Cassian Andor over the course of four years as he becomes the hero audiences meet in Rogue One.

The second season will fly onto Disney+ in 2025.


The Mandalorian and Grogu

Mando and the adorable Grogu are headed to the big screen in a feature film directed by Jon Favreau. Fans got a special look at film led by Pedro Pascal.

The Mandalorian and Grogu is currently in production and will hit theaters on May 22, 2026.


Agatha All Along

Who’s show have we been waiting for? It’s been Agatha All Along!

The Wicked Witch of Westview returns to Disney+ down on her luck and powerless after being cursed by the infamous Wanda Maximoff in WandaVision. Fans were the first to see a new trailer for the highly anticipated show starring Kathryn Hahn, Aubrey Plaza, Patti LuPone, Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, and Debra Jo Rupp. These stars also graced the stage to sing a new song from the upcoming series titled “The Ballad of Witches Road.”

Agatha All Along premieres on Disney+ on September 18.


Captain America: Brave New World

Anthony Mackie joined Kevin Feige on stage to share footage from Captain America: Brave New World marking Sam Wilson’s film debut as Captain America. Sam experiences international obstacles after a meeting with the new President of The United States Thaddeus Ross.

Daredevil: Born Again

Fans lost their minds when Charlie Cox and the cast of Daredevil: Born Again hit the stage to talk about the highly-anticipated Disney+ series. This new series will reunite fans with Cox’s Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer with enhanced abilities, and his infamous nemesis Wilson Fisk as he works towards political power in New York.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps

Production for the Fantastic Four’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has begun.

Starring Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters on July 24, 2025.


Ironheart

Ryan Coogler, director of Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, announced that Ironheart will hit Disney+ in 2025. The series stars Dominique Thorne, Anthony Ramos, Lyric Ross, Regan Aliyah, and Alden Ehrenreich.


Percy Jackson and The Olympians Season 2

Rick Riordan, Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri revealed an exclusive tease of the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

The second season will cover the hit sequel book The Sea of Monsters and is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2025.


Descendants/Zombies: Worlds Collide Tour

The Disney hit movies Descendants and Zombies are teaming up for a live tour for summer 2025. Rita Ora introduced the cast of Descendants: The Rise of Red for a medley of their hit songs, and shared the news of this exciting tour coming to arenas all over the country. The tour will celebrate the music and stories of the Descendants and Zombies franchises. Kylie Cantrall, Malia Baker, Dara Reneé, and Ruby Rose Turner of Descendants: The Rise of Red, as well as Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires stars Freya Skye and Malachi Barton are confirmed for the tour, with more to be announced soon.

Tickets for the Descendants/Zombies: Worlds Collide Tour will go on sale this November.


David Blaine: Do Not Attempt

We’ve got a first look at famed magician David Blaine’s upcoming series David Blaine: Do Not Attempt. This new series will debut on National Geographic and Disney+ in 2025.


Mufasa: The Lion King

Lin-Manuel Miranda welcomed fans back to Pride Rock with a first look Mufasa: The Lion King with a new song called “I Always Wanted A Brother.” Fans will get to learn more about the life Mufasa led before he was a father to Simba in the fan-favorite film The Lion King.

Mufasa: The Lion King opens in theaters December 20, 2024.


Disney’s Snow White

Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot graced the D23 stage to share a special look of their live-action reimagining of Disney’s first fairytale Snow White. Zegler shines in the teaser that shows off a first look of her Snow White, the beautiful fairytale world, the seven dwarves, and Gadot’s iteration of the Evil Queen. The live-action film includes original songs written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

Disney’s Snow White hits the big screen on March 21, 2025.


Lilo & Stitch

Stitch immediately caused absolute chaos at D23 and gave fans a much anticipated first look at his live-action iteration. Director Dean Fleischer Camp breathes life into a live-action reimagining of the childhood classic Lilo & Stitch. Starring Maia Kealoha, Sydney Elizabeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Chris Sanders, Courtney B. Vance, and Zach Galifianakis, audiences will see a new iteration of the story of a lonely little girl who finds friendship and familial healing from a fugitive alien loose in Hawaii.

Lilo & Stitch surfs into theaters Summer of 2025.


TRON: Ares

Jeff Bridges, Jared Leto, Greta Lee, and Evan Peters were greeted with a huge applause as they hit the stage at D23 for their upcoming film TRON: Ares. Leto stars as Ares, a sophisticated technological program who is sent from the digital world to into the real world on a high-stakes mission, and serve as an introduction as the first AI being to encounter humans.

TRON: Ares hits theaters October 10, 2025.


Freakier Friday

Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan reunited on stage to announce the title of their new sequel to their hit film Freaky Friday. Titled Freakier Friday, Anna is now a mother and soon-to-be stepmother struggling with blended family obstacles. But the family might become more blended than they ever intended.

Freakier Friday will be released in theaters in 2025.


Untitled Dwayne Johnson Monster Truck Film

Dwayne Johnson and Alan Bergman revealed they have a monster truck film in the works, produced by Johnson and his company Seven Bucks Productions. He told fans that the film will embrace the popularity of monster truck jams.


LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy

LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy is an animated Star Wars special will star Stranger Things’ Gaten Matarazzo as Sig Greebling who discovers a powerful object from a secret Jedi temple. This causes Sig’s world to be turned upside down (pun intended) and everything in the Star Wars universe is not what it seems. Heroes are evil, villians have gone good, and it’s up to Sig to restore the universe back to the way it belongs. The special also stars Mark Hamill who lends his voice for a special appearance and serves as a consulting producer.

All four episodes will debut on Disney+ on September 13.


Celebrating 30 Years of Disney on Broadway

To celebrate 30 years of Disney on Broadway, a medley of songs filled the Honda Center and were joined with wonderful Broadway announcements. Hercules, Aladdin, and The Lion King stage productions will all be on London’s West End starting in Summer 2025. It was also announced that the hit film The Greatest Showman is also being adapted as a stage production, and the highly successful stage iteration of Frozen has been recorded and will be released on Disney+ in 2025.
