Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson Are Setting Sail Again In New Moana 2 Teaser Trailer

Moana of Motunui is setting sail yet again.

After a surprise announcement earlier this year that we were getting Moana 2, fans have been eagerly awaiting more news. Now Disney has released the first trailer for the sequel to the 2016 animated film, with Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson reprising their roles.

We see Moana’s return to the beautiful blue ocean and a glimpse at new sea creatures. This is her first adventure since her last voyage three years ago and it’s an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors that takes her on this journey. This time, she seems to have gathered a few new friends from her village to join her, along with her rooster Heihei and pig Pua. We also see the return of a previous enemy, the Kakamora, the murderous, speedy pirates Moana bested last time. She's ready to go head-to-head with them again. And in true Maui fashion, he appears right at the end, asking the question we all wanted to know: "Why didn't you bring the pig last time?" This is definitely a nod to the fans.

Directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller, and produced by Christina Chen and Yvett Merino, Moana 2 features music by Grammy winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa’i, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina. Although we haven’t gotten a snippet of any music yet, anticipation is high.

Our next voyage is set to be a good one. After Disney reworked this from a series to a movie, fans cannot wait to see what this story has in store for us. Moana 2 will be released in theaters on November 27.
