The Jackson 5 Casting Has Been Announced For Michael Biopic
The Jackson 5 have finally found their rhythm in the new biopic surrounding the life of the king of pop Michael Jackson.
Michael will follow the life of the legend Michael Jackson, tearing down the walls and providing an authentic and refreshing take on his journey through life. The film aims to take us through his triumphs and tragedies, uncovering the man behind the genius. Searching for the perfect Michael was a difficult task, which pushed director Antoine Fuqua to look a little closer to home, casting Jaafar Jackson as his uncle Michael Jackson, with Juliano Krue Valdi as the younger Michael.
Now Liongate has announced the actors that will be joining the cast as the younger and older versions of the rest of The Jackson 5: Jermaine, Marlon, Tito, and Jackie Jackson.
Young Jermaine will be played by Jayden Harville, who is making his film debut after previously being cast in a Doc McStuffins commercial at age 5. Jamal R. Henderson will play Jermaine in his older years. He began his journey as a model, but has since stepped into acting, appearing on Netflix's Mindhunter and leading the BET feature South Central Love.
Jaylen Lyndon Hunter will play young Marlon. He made his Broadway debut in The Lion King as young Simba on the National Rafiki Tour from 2021-2023, then moved on to play young Marlon and understudy the role of Michael on the first National Tour of MJ: The Musical. Tre Horton will play the older version of Marlon. He has starred in theater productions of Amen Corner, A Chorus Line, and Beauty and the Beast.
Young Tito will be played by Judah Edwards, who has been acting since a very young age, including Netflix’s ADA Twist and Nickelodeon’s Blaze And The Monster Machines. Rhyan Hill will be playing the adult Tito. He’s known for his series regular role as Devontae on BET+'s The Michael Blackson Show and has been seen on Grey's Anatomy and Lovecraft Country.
Nathaniel Logan will play young Jackie, seen as Seren in the Oprah Winfrey Network series David Makes Man, as well as his role in the Netflix original feature Barry. Joseph David-Jones will play Jackie in his later years of life. He starred in The CW’s The 4400 reimagining, The Divergent Series: Allegient, and as The Green Arrow in Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
Other castings included Colman Domingo as family patriarch Joe Jackson and Nia Long as beloved mother Katherine Jackson, as well as Miles Teller as attorney John Branca.
Michael is in production now and is slated for a worldwide release on April 18, 2025.
