Stranger Things: The Experience Transports You Into The Upside Down
It’s time to unlock your power and save Hawkins… but beware, things can quickly turn uʍop ǝpᴉsdn.
Netflix and the experience discovery platform Fever have teamed up to transport fans into the Stranger Things universe with Stranger Things: The Experience. A new storyline, developed exclusively with the show’s creators, puts you in the starring role in this 45-minute long interactive experience. Guests will find themselves in Hawkins Lab and the Upside Down as they work to unlock their own secret powers to help their favorite Stranger Things characters save the day.
After a perilous escape from the Upside Down, guests will make their way to the immersive, 80s-themed retail hub known as the Mix-Tape. It takes you further inside the world by replicating iconic Stranger Things locations, including the Palace Arcade and Scoops Ahoy! You can grab a USS Butterscotch sundae, shop exclusive merchandise, and even snag a photo opp with a life-size Demogorgon. Though some eagle eyed fans may notice some unfamiliar locations too — including Hellfire Club, Surfer Boy Pizza, and Rink-O-Rama — which have been confirmed as sneak peeks into new spots we’ll see in the upcoming fourth season of Stranger Things.
I attended the Stranger Things: The Experience press preview in Brooklyn, New York and got a chance to partake in the entire experience. While the story was a little slow to start, things really picked up as the original cast members were added into the mix. With impressive special effects and an epic 3-D stand off in the Upside Down, this is one event you don’t want to miss. The Mix-Tape had to be my favorite spot as we sampled their Stranger Things-inspired menus, including an Upside Down cocktail and Eleven-themed items like chicken and waffles and a Demogorgon cocktail featuring a mini stroopwafel. There are performers throughout the space to interact with as Hawkins residents and even hidden QR code rifts that unlock bonus features. Avid fans will love the chance to add to their Stranger Things collections with special items you won’t find anywhere else — from t-shirts and hats to the cutest demogorgon plush! Let’s just say, my guests and I had so much fun, we stayed till closing.
Stranger Things: The Experience follows the smash-hit successes of both the first official Stranger Things Stores that brought the Upside Down to New York City and Los Angeles in Fall 2021 and Stranger Things: The Drive Into Experience to Los Angeles in Spring 2021. “The rift is open and we’re excited that our Stranger Things fans will get to jump into the magic once more,” said Greg Lombardo, Head of Experiences at Netflix. “This time they will take on the challenges themselves and work alongside Eleven, Mike, and the rest of the gang to fight the evil monsters plaguing Hawkins. As Dustin would say, you always say we should never stop being curious, to always open any curiosity door we find.”
Stranger Things: The Experience is currently running at The Duggal Greenhouse in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The event will open in San Francisco and other cities around the world later this year. Tickets are limited and prices will start at $54 per person and can be booked at strangerthings-experience.com/newyork. Fans can follow @strangerthings.experience for more.
