Harry Potter: The Exhibition Brings The Magic Of The Wizarding World To New York City
Grab your wand, a mug of Butterbeer, and get ready to explore the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!
Harry Potter: The Exhibition has just hit New York and Kristen Maldonado of Pop Culture Planet attended the VIP press preview event to scope out the magical experience.
Beginning May 19, guests can walk through a one of a kind journey into the iconic moments from the entire Wizarding World, including Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, and even Broadway’s Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. As visitors explore each gallery, their interactions are captured using RFID wristbands to deliver unique and personalized experiences linked to their visitor profile and help them win points for their Hogwarts house.
You start the interactive experience by choosing your Hogwarts house and Patronus before heading into the From Page to Screen Gallery, which showcases a first edition copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone encased in a Gringotts-inspired vault and is surrounded by inspirational video and literary quotes. Next you’ll make your way into the Hogwarts Castle Gallery featuring an immersive multimedia experience with iconic visuals like the Whomping Willow, Dementors, and even get your name featured on the Marauder’s Map.
Guests will walk through the Great Hall Gallery where you can watch the architecture transform throughout magical seasonal moments. Then head to the Hogwarts Houses Gallery, where the Sorting Hat is surrounded by stained glass window-designed house crests, and see props and costumes from characters of each house.
Then it’s time to head to class where you can interact with magical lessons and games! Brew up love or luck in Potions class, predict the future in Divination, pot a mandrake in the Herbology Greenhouse, and use your digital wand to defeat a boggart in Defense Against the Dark Arts. You can even test your Quidditch skills before heading out to The Forbidden Forest to explore Hagrid’s Hut!
The experience also takes you inside Fantastic Beasts where you can travel by portkey, go inside the Ministry of Magic, and see costumes from the stage to the screen. Don’t miss photo opportunities like Harry’s cupboard under the stairs, the Chamber of Secrets, and even participate in the Battle of Hogwarts!
When you’re done head into the retail shop where you can celebrate your fandom with merchandise — from apparel and jewelry to fan-favorite treats like Chocolate Frogs and bottled Butterbeer — not available at any other Wizarding World experience.
Harry Potter: The Exhibition is easily accessible at 50 W. 34th Street (34th Street and Broadway) with tickets starting at $29.
