New York Comic Con Teases Rowan’s Struggle for Power in Mayfair Witches Season 2 and Immortal Universe Crossovers
AMC+ is building suspense for season 2 of Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches. We got a sneak peek into what’s in store at the New York Comic Con panel featuring showrunner Esta Spalding, producer Mark Johnson, and cast members Harry Hamlin, Tongayi Chirisa, and Alyssa Jirrels.
We first saw a clip of Alexandra Daddario as Rowan, stepping into her power. After giving birth to a demon child, Rowan struggles to figure out who he is — a savior or a monster. She wants to harness his power for herself, believing it’s her destiny. But instead of fulfilling this destiny, she now has to protect her family as everything around her changes. And this season isn’t just about Rowan’s journey.
New cast members include Ben Feldman, Thora Birch, Ted Levine, and Alyssa Jirrels. This season dives into different books and their storylines, with Lasher — the second book in the series — taking center stage. It focuses on Julian and Lasher’s history. Spalding teased that Julian’s return, along with his relationship with Cortland, will be a major plotline that drives the story forward.
But don’t worry, Rowan’s story still gets plenty of attention. “We explore Rowan’s journey as a really powerful woman who wants to break free from this demon and keep the power for herself,” Spalding shared.
Jirrels’ character Moira Mayfair is a mind reader and the black sheep of the family. She blocks out the noise with music, but has returned to town for one reason — her sister is dead and she doesn’t trust her family. Jirrels revealed that Moira and Rowan clash, as Moira holds Rowan accountable, though they’re more alike than they’d like to admit.
In a final surprise, Johnson shared details about a new series based on Anne Rice’s The Talamasca, which will act as a bridge between the worlds of Mayfair Witches and Interview with the Vampire. He hinted at some exciting news, saying, “There will be some considerable crossover, and characters you’ve fallen in love — or hate — with may appear in The Talamasca.”
Mayfair Witches returns for season 2 on January 5, 2025 on AMC and AMC+.
