These Are Our Favorite Workplace Shows To Watch On Labor Day Weekend

tv

It may be contradictory that shows set in the workplace shut your brain off after a long day of work. I can’t explain this phenomena, perhaps it’s the hijinx the employees of Dunder Mifflin get into, or the drama that ensues in The Morning Show that make us feel somehow grateful for our work days. No matter the reason, I’ve put together a list of my favorite workplace shows to help you chill this Labor Day weekend. So, sit back, relax, and let these shows do the work for you!

Abbott Elementary

There’s nothing better than watching passionate teachers in an underfunded school in Philadelphia to prove why we deserve a much needed day off. The hilarious group at Abbott Elementary not only teach and help their students, but they do it all with a smile while creating funny antics in the process.

Abbott Elementary is on ABC and streaming on Max and Hulu.

The Office

When one thinks of workplace shows, The Office ought to come up, and for good reason. The Dunder Mifflin crew seems to work harder at getting themselves into riotous predicaments than selling paper, but that’s why we love them. The best part, or maybe the worst, is that anyone who has worked in an office can relate to the dysfunctional group at Dunder Mifflin.

The Office is streaming on Peacock.

Parks and Recreation

The Parks and Rec crew of Pawnee, Indiana never disappoints. Though it’s a fictional workplace set in a fictional town, the complaints from the Pawnee citizens are all too real. Come kick it with Leslie Knope and Ron Swanson and their loyal comrades if you want a laugh!

Parks and Recreation is streaming on Peacock.

Industry

Industry gives an insider's view of high finance. We follow a group of young bankers forging their identities within the pressure cooker environment that is the international bank of Pierpoint & Co.

Industry is streaming on Max.

Succession

Succession has it all. A toxic family dynamic that runs generations deep, comedic undertones, brilliant dialogue, and witty comebacks between the Roy siblings. What’s not to love? This show is also the epitome of “more money, more problems,” and I absolutely devour it.

Succession is streaming on Max.

Loot

A wealthy woman who actually wants to give back to the world with her fortune? Say less.

After divorcing her husband of 20 years, Molly Novak (played by Maya Rudolph) must figure out what to do with her $87 billion settlement. So, she decides to re-engage with her charitable foundation and reconnect with the real world all while finding herself along the way.

Loot is streaming on Apple TV+.

Severance

We all talk about wanting better work-life balance, but Severance takes that notion to a whole new level. Mark (Adam Scott) leads a team of office workers whose memories have been surgically divided between their work and personal lives. See? Work-life balance!

Jokes aside, we all know this isn’t a good innovation and, when a mysterious colleague appears outside of their office one day, Mark’s team begins a journey to discover the truth about their jobs.

Severance is streaming on Apple TV+.

Scrubs

Before St. Denis Medical, there was Scrubs, the humorous series that follows intern John Dorian at Sacred Heart Hospital as he learns the ins and outs of the medical field.

Scrubs is streaming on Hulu and Peacock.

The Morning Show

The lives of those who get you up every morning with your daily forecast and cup of coffee may not be what you think. The Morning Show explores the challenges faced by the people who work in morning television.

The Morning Show is streaming on Apple TV+.

30 Rock

If you haven’t seen this show, you may be living under a rock, no pun intended. 30 Rock is a show based loosely on SNL and created by none other than Tina Fey.

As funny as the live sketch show that Liz Lemon writes on is, it doesn’t compare to the hysterical dilemmas her cast and crew get into throughout the week on set.

30 Rock is streaming on Hulu and Peacock.

Suits

The buzzy, glamorous life of a lawyer isn’t what it seems. Big-time Manhattan corporate lawyer Harvey Specter and his team are launched into a play for power when a new partner joins the firm. While adjusting to the new norm, the team faces betrayals, fiery relationships, and secrets that eventually come to light. I don’t know about you, but this show makes me grateful for my tame, at home job.

Suits is streaming on Netflix.

2 Broke Girls

Work friends are the best friends, but watching two work friends, especially Max and Caroline, is even better.

The unlikely duo create a plan all too familiar, especially if you’ve worked in a greasy restaurant serving others. Max and Caroline band together with the hope that they make enough money to start a successful business and leave the greasy diner world behind.

2 Broke Girls is on the Roku channel.

Superstore

We’ve all had a job in retail or at the grocery store — and the eccentric group at Superstore is here to let us vicariously relive our glory days through them.

Superstore is streaming on Hulu and Peacock.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Ever wanted an inside look at a day in the life of a police officer? Well, Brooklyn Nine-Nine can’t quite give an accurate depiction of that, but they do explore the comedic exploits of Detective Jake Peralta and his colleagues as they police the NYPD's 99th Precinct.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is streaming on Peacock.

Emily in Paris

This may be the one show on this list that will make you envious of someone else’s job. Emily in Paris follows Chicago marketing executive Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) as she navigates a new setting for her career, the beautiful and vibrant city of Paris and all that it has to offer.

Emily in Paris is streaming on Netflix.

The Bear

Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri co-star in the comedic drama The Bear. Set in a bustling Chicago kitchen, it’s filled with lots of drama and breathtaking cinematography. Yes, Chef!

The Bear is streaming on Hulu.

Workaholics

While this show is set in a traditional office setting, it’s far from similar to The Office. Blake, Adam, and Anders have to adjust to the workforce after college — a feat most of us have had to tackle. One that they never seem to grasp as they end up getting themselves into more trouble while trying to avoid doing any real work at their telemarketer jobs.

Workaholics is streaming on Pluto TV, Roku, Paramount+, and Hulu.
