These Book To Screen Adaptations Are Perfect For Summer!
Summer is officially here! What better way to enjoy it than indulging into the world of fiction? Here are four book to film adaptations to add to your summer watchlist that will keep you craving that warm weather feeling!
The Summer I Turned Pretty
The Summer I Turned Pretty transports you to the perfect beach town of Cousins Beach in the trilogy series by Jenny Han. Actors Lola Tung, Chris Briney, and Gavin Casalegno bring to life the iconic love triangle that begins when Belly has a glow up.
The story is so much more than just a simple summer love. It incorporates that feel-good summer aesthetic that translates very well from book to screen!
The Summer I Turned Pretty is available to watch on Prime Video.
Along For The Ride
Along For the Ride was such a comfort read for me in middle school and one I look forward to revisiting every summer! I fell totally in love with Sarah Dessen’s story and the characters she created.
Longing for independence, Auden spends the summer before college visiting her estranged father. There she meets Eli and the two form a lingering connection while she struggles to make decisions that will affect both her present and the future. The film adaptation stars Emma Pasarow and Belmont Cameli as Auden and Eli. Their chemistry perfectly depicted young love and everything that comes with it.
Watch Along For the Ride on Netflix.
The Last Song
Who doesn’t love a good Nicholas Sparks story? The Last Song quickly became one of my favorite when its released in 2010. It’s also where Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s own decades long romance began as they play opposites who learn one summer has the power to change everything.
This adaptation featured a lot direct quotes from the book, which fans will appreciate. There is no denying the chemistry between the duo, especially in the more emotional scenes.
This summer, you can stream The Last Song on Disney+.
Where The Crawdads Sing
Adapted from the novel by Delia Owens comes Where the Crawdads Sing about Kya, an isolated and resilient marsh girl who is drawn to two young men from town. But when one of them is found dead, she is the main suspect. is a drama film that was adapted from the mystery novel written by .
The film stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Harris Dickinson, and Taylor John Smith. The novel was a real page turner and the movie kept the same element of surprise, while adding some new twists. With Reese Witherspoon as a producer, I knew the story was in good hands.
Where the Crawdads Sing is available to watch on Hulu.
