The Traitors Suffer A Devastating Blow In Episode 9
I’m so sad to say this, but Carolyn is no longer ruling the castle. Episode nine of The Traitors saw Carolyn Wiger and Danielle Reyes clash for the final time in the turret. With Boston Rob out, they were allowed to recruit a Faithful to their side, but the two ladies couldn’t find common ground. Danielle wanted her ally Britney Haynes to join, but Carolyn refused. Carolyn was fully within her right to pass on Britney. Danielle has backstabbed Carolyn time and time again and I commend Carolyn for putting her foot down. However, the drama was just getting started in this game-changing episode of The Traitors.
Danielle and Carolyn decide to murder instead of recruit, which sadly meant it was the end for Sam Asghari. Sam proved to be a threat in episode eight with his clever ideas that almost stumped the Traitors. Sadly, he couldn’t stick around longer to get dirt on Danielle. Rest in Peace Sam, you’ll be missed.
As the group grows smaller, the stakes become so much bigger. This week’s mission brings the group to a life-size chess game that is reminiscent of the one the cast of Harry Potter played at Hogwarts. Season two Traitors Parvati Shallow and Kate Chastain returned to host the game, which was a fun callback for fans. Kate and Parvati were joined by a giant Traitor statue that lurked amongst the team as they tried to guess what the Traitors said about each player. If the team successfully matched a Faithful to the correct answer, they won more money for the prize. However, if they were wrong, the Traitor statue would push you off the chess board. Frankly, the statue was absolutely terrifying, and I’d be running far away from it.
This challenge posed an even larger threat to Danielle and Carolyn since they had all the answers. They had to act like they had no clue which Faithful matched each question, which sadly led to Carolyn screwing up at the end of the challenge. However, she did accurately guess that Tom Sandoval would volunteer himself as the “noble hero” in the castle, which was hilarious to watch. In Tom’s head, it’s his world and we’re all living in it.
After the challenge, more suspicions fell to Carolyn. She tried her best to sway one of her true friends in the castle Dylan Efron, but he also saw her as a Traitor. The roundtable was heated, with Danielle and Carolyn trying everything they could to vanquish each other once and for all. Sadly, Carolyn was banished and that sent shockwaves throughout the entire fandom. Carolyn was a fan favorite and I truly thought she could win the whole thing. This was the first season where I wanted a Traitor to win, but only if that Traitor were Carolyn! Danielle keeps creeping by unnoticed, but, thankfully, it seems like Dylan is on to her.
Danielle is the final Traitor standing and she decides to recruit Britney to her side. In a cast confessional, Britney admitted that Danielle recruiting her would be an obvious choice, which makes waiting for next week’s episode even more excruciating. With Britney potentially joining the Traitors, could she and Danielle win it all? Will Britney stab Danielle in the back? Only time will tell.
