Schuyler Fisk and Lea Thompson Lead New Hallmark Series The Chicken Sisters About Warring Fried Chicken Restaurants
If we had to make a list of the 50 most American things, fried chicken would be way up there. Combine it with a reality show battle and you've got a recipe for a beautifully chaotic spectacle. Hallmark Channel knew exactly what they were doing when they picked up their new eight episode series The Chicken Sisters.
Based on KJ Dell’Antonia’s 2020 bestselling novel, The Chicken Sisters stars Schuyler Fisk, Genevieve Angelson, Lea Thompson, and Wendie Malick. With Southern charm and a touch of romance, a generations-old rivalry between two fried chicken restaurants leaves the town of Merinac divided and families broken. When the popular cooking show Kitchen Clash comes to town, it’s the chance to decide which restaurant is the best once and for all. But, of course, nothing is that simple. The reality show drama heats things up and secrets start unraveling.
“Annie Mebane blew us away with her vision for The Chicken Sisters — her unique spin and enthusiasm for this fried chicken feud had us excited from day one,” said Lisa Hamilton Daly, Executive Vice President of Programming at Hallmark Media, about the showrunner behind Shrinking and Atypical.
But there’s more than just fried chicken under the surface of The Chicken Sisters. It celebrates femininity in a multigenerational business where their frustrations, their desires, and, ultimately, their healing is all laid out in front of us.
The series is currently in production and set to premiere later this year.
