Hussein Family Navigates Patriotism and Suspicion In #1 Happy Family USA Trailer

tv

From the childhood nightmares of Ramy Youssef comes the new adult animated series #1 Happy Family USA.

Set in the early 2000s, the trailer focuses on the Muslim-American family the Husseins in post-9/11 America. The satirical comedy finds them working to prove they are the epitome of patriotism and peace — and are not at all suspicious! — to their terrified neighbors. “Being yourself in public is a very white thing to be able to do” is a big takeaway from the trailer, teasing that the Hussein family will learn to code-switch and change everything they can about themselves to fit in.

The series is made up of an all-star voice ensemble including Youssef, Alia Shawkat, Mandy Moore, Timothy Olyphant, Kieran Culkin, and Chris Redd.

All eight episodes of #1 Happy Family USA will premiere April 17 on Prime Video.
