Rachel Zegler and Kit Connor To Make Broadway Debut In Romeo + Juliet

Shakespeare, but make it Gen-Z.

Yep, that’s right! Breakout stars Rachel Zegler and Kit Connor will be playing the star-crossed lovers as they make their Broadway debut with Romeo + Juliet this fall.

On Monday, Zegler and Connor teased on Instagram with matching posts, a heart and dagger emoji, and the location set as Verona. Fans quickly drew the connections and excitingly speculated whether it would be a live-action TV series or on Broadway. Now, it’s been announced that Sam Gold, Jack Antonoff, and Sonya Tayeh are attached to the project as director, composer, and choreographer, respectively.

“The youth are f**ked,” reads the tagline for this edgy, fresh take on the classic Shakespearean tragedy. The show will follow the lovers as they try to escape their parents’ world of violence and towards their doomed fate. Their intoxicating love turns into brutal chaos that can only end one way.
