In the new Only Murders In The Building season four trailer, our favorite trio heads to Hollywood to make their podcast story a major motion picture. Molly Shannon stars as a Hollywood producer leading the charge on the podcast’s film adaptation. In a fun, unexpected twist, the show brings in real stars playing themselves to portray the film iterations of Charles, Mabel, and Oliver. Eugene Levy reunites with Steve Martin to play the Hollywood version Charles. Eva Longoria takes on the role of Selena Gomez’s spunky, sarcastic Mabel. Martin Short’s Oliver hilariously has no clue who Zach Galifianakis is, but welcomes The Hangover star to play the movie version of himself. The trio reluctantly lets their acting counterparts follow them around for character studies.
Did you really think the show wouldn’t touch on who shot the longtime stunt double of Charles? Season three ended on an abrupt cliffhanger when Sazz Pataki, played by Jane Lynch, went up to Charles’s apartment and was shot, dying on the spot. The only twist? The shot was meant for Charles. Since Sazz and Charles are nearly identical, it seems Sazz was sadly in the wrong place at the wrong time. There’s one question that looms over this season: Who wanted Charles dead?
The trio and their acting counterparts go on a journey to uncover Sazz’s murderer. In a delightful twist, audiences see our detectives take refuge at Charles’s sister’s house, who is played by Melissa McCarthy. This season is packed with guest stars and returning faces. Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph returns as Detective Williams. Meryl Streep graces the screen as Loretta once again and Jane Lynch returns as this season’s murder victim. Marvel actor Kumail Nanjiani and Richard Kind also join the cast. With a murderer on the loose and Hollywood knocking down their doors, our favorite podcasters are facing their biggest case yet.
Season four of Only Murders In The Building premieres on Hulu on August 27.
