Ginny and Georgia Season 2 Is Full Of Family Drama and Massive Chaos
Ginny & Georgia are back for season 2! The first season introduced us to Antonia Gentry and Brianne Howey as the mother and daughter duo in the genre-bending series that has elements of Gilmore Girls, Bonnie and Clyde, and Degrassi — and things are about to get even more chaotic.
We kick off two weeks after Ginny and Austin have left in the middle of the night to stay with Zion after Georgia’s past comes to haunt them. This fracture in their relationship causes a weak start to the season. Ginny and Georgia are the glue that holds the show together after all. The two must resolve their differences while Ginny struggles with her mental health, Georgia flashes back to her past, Austin’s sketchy father reappears in his life, and the whole family forms a deeper connection to the Wellsbury community. Slowly but surely Ginny and Georgia’s relationship gets better, but, as it does, literally everything else gets thrown into massive chaos.
The biggest mistake of the season was Joe’s (Raymond Ablack) storyline where they introduce a new love interest for him: a much older women struggling with a sick husband. The season also ends with Georgia taking a big and unnecessary risk that put her family in harms way. While she has good intentions, it just seems impossible for her actions to not negatively impact her children. With all the ups and downs, the creatives also try to experiment with a new format for the final two episodes that is ambitious, albeit a bit confusing at first.
All in all, Ginny & Georgia season 2 was fun and has a lot of enjoyable characters, but they go a bit too far with some of the chaos at times to the point that it can be unrealistic. You really have to suspend disbelief and work to still be on some of these characters sides despite the mistakes they make. There are still a lot of mysteries and story lines to uncover, so crossing my fingers we’ll get more answers in a possible season 3.
Ginny & Georgia season 2 is streaming on Netflix.
