It’s The End Of The World As We Know It! Netflix’s Don’t Look Up Trailer Released
In Netflix’s upcoming film Don’t Look Up, we follow astronomy grad student Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence) and her professor Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) who make an astounding discovery of a comet orbiting within the solar system. The problem — it’s on a direct collision course with Earth. The other problem? No one really seems to care. Written and directed by Academy Award winner Adam McKay, the film also stars Rob Morgan, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Cate Blanchett, Tyler Perry, Mark Rylance, Ron Perlman, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Scott Mescudi (Kid Cudi), Himesh Patel, Melanie Lynskey, Michael Chiklis, and Tomer Sisley.
Now we’ve got an official trailer for Don’t Look Up, above, which teases the comical struggle to get the public aware of the impending doom, a social media obsessed Chalamet, and a musical performance from Grande and Mescudi.
“I’ve always wanted to work with Adam McKay, I’m a huge fan,” said Jennifer Lawrence in a Netflix Q&A. “When I read the script, I thought it was genius. It’s maybe the funniest script I’ve ever read, and I thought it was such a poignant way to get such an important point across, that people don’t need to be fighting each other over science. We need to be fighting this collective war to save humanity together.”
“In making this movie, there was this sense of everyone collectively exhaling in relief that we could finally laugh after the insanity of the last 2 (or 20) years,” said Adam McKay. “And that’s not to say that laughter is the only way to deal with confusing or scary times, but I think this movie is really for all the people out there who have been living in this crazy ecosystem and just want to laugh at that and maybe have a couple of basic problems solved. Like, can we at least do that?”
Don’t Look Up will be available in select theaters on December 10 and worldwide on Netflix December 24.
