It’s Now Or Never In The Final Episodes Of Peacock’s Love Undercover

tv

We've reached the final week of Love Undercover and these endings didn't give me the satisfaction I expected. If anything, these last three episodes felt dragged out and predictable. Some of the men got to meet with the families of their final potential ladies, while Lloyd Jones, on the other hand, is still torn between his head and his heart.

Meeting the families was a bit messy, as starting the relationship off by lying to their loved ones is probably not the greatest first impression. Jamie O’Hara, being the brilliant man he is, took an opportunity when Renee was using the restroom to break the news to her mom and yaya about his true career as a soccer player and now radio host. I thought he, out of all the men, was very thoughtful and I loved how important it was for him to be honest with them.

Lloyd met both Brittany and Ariana's families. Brittany's father and best friend were laying it on thick and Lloyd seemed awkward, shy, uncomfortable, and pressured, which set off some alarms. But in their defense, he's a young, good-looking guy and they don't want him jerking Brittany around. She deserves more than to feel like an option at this point in the game. While with Ariana, he met her brothers, who were laid-back. She really pressured them to be on their best behavior, which worked in her favor as Lloyd was able to be a bit more comfortable and natural with them. But there is a difference between meeting a dad versus a brother and Lloyd should've taken that into account.

Sebastian Fassi met Brittany's mom and it seemed to go well, despite her questioning him. She seemed mostly concerned about how he can provide for Brittany, which tracks as Brittany is definitely one of the girls obsessed with financial benefits.

Ryan Babel met with both Sofia's mom and her best friend Cher and I think they had the best interaction out of all the couples. They were excited to meet him, but Sofia's mom knows a little bit about construction, which left Ryan having to create a fake connection over what she believes is a commonality. He did a good job keeping up appearances, but maybe a little too good of a job…

Marco Fabian and Abby ultimately decided that they are not there yet in their relationship, so instead, he took her to give her a little taste of what his life is like outside of America. And, oh boy, was she overwhelmed with the attention he was getting! It was a big reality check for her.

After all these dates, the guys reveal their secret to the women — that they are international soccer stars — and ask them to come back home with them. But, of course, young and conflicted Lloyd has a tough choice to make. He chooses Ariana, which is not who I would have chosen, but there’s no turning back time.

Taking the girls to their hometowns is a big step but also a reality check for these women as they need to decide whether a life with a football player is a life they can handle. Each girl travels to her man's place and gets exposed to his world. While some couples get closer and start to feel like their relationships are possible, others start to see red flags that us viewers have been seeing for weeks.

Let's start with the couples who are no more. The biggest shock of the night — kidding, this was not a shock all! — was that Brittany and Sebastian barely made it a day before Sebastian noticed red flags. While I don't always agree with him, this time around I did. After being so shady to him behind closed doors with the girls and even her mom questioning him, Brittany dove headfirst into their relationship. A big part of me sees that her hinting about moving with him and making a commitment was also her way of trying to figure out where his head was at, but she was laying it on thick. Sebastian decides to end things during a romantic beach sunset as he worries about how invested she got into him after discovering his true life. Sebastian made a lot of decisions in the house impulsively, which led him to where he's at. My suggestion? He should pick up the phone and call Estefani.

Marco and Abby built a beautiful friendship that didn’t turn into love, but I think they won an even better prize. Each of them found more confidence in themselves and now knows what they are in search of. Marco has even found a woman he's really into, to which Abby said she is so happy for him.

Meanwhile, Ariana is moving to London to be with Lloyd as they are hoping to further their connection. Though I doubt their relationship is going to last, this journey might be exactly what each of them needs to explore something new and exciting. I still wish Lloyd would have chosen either Gaby or Brittany. I felt he had a more genuine connection with them, but I think he's scared of the real deal. He'd rather commit to what's easy and available.

Ryan and Sofia had a pretty bumpy start as she was not impressed with his job and more concerned about the lying of it all. Being with a sportsman is not exactly what she ever thought she would do, but Ryan seems different from the rest. Though she did hear from Renee that Ryan was still looking for something with Ariana, he denied it, which she accepted as Ryan has been very honest thus far. They decided to explore their relationship further, even if it’s long distance. I do think they have some compatibility, but I am just not convinced that it's a perfect match.

Ending it off with the mom and dad of the group: Jamie and Renee! These were the two people that made you want to come back week after week as they are such a joy to watch, especially Jamie, who was unexpectedly a crowd favorite. Jamie gives Renee keys and says his home is now their home. It was so romantic and I am obsessed.

That's it for Love Undercover. I am disappointed that we didn’t get some type of update about what these couples look like today. Now all I can do is wonder and speculate. I struggle to not feel like I wasted my time watching 10 episodes where, with the exception of Jamie and Renee, there was no true love match. Is one month too fast? I think so. The great thing about reality dating shows is that, while some people go on wanting fame more than love, there are people who actually find love. We have seen success is possible with many Love Island babies and engagements that have happened over the years and even my OTT (one true throuple) Denyse, Corey, and Wilder from Couple to Throuple. Unfortunately with Love Undercover, everything feels temporary.

The entire season of Love Undercover is available to stream on Peacock.
