Enter A Strange, Colorful Fever Dream In Julio Torres’ Fantasmas Trailer

tv

Problemista star Julio Torres is back with an all new six-part comedy series with Fantasmas. In his search to find his lost pearl earring, he reflects on the offbeat characters he encounters in introspective, often eerie, and always comedic vignettes set in a dreamy, alternate version of New York City. Mixing surrealism and bright kaleidoscopic colors, the series weaves together stories of people looking for meaning, purpose, and connection in an increasingly isolating world.

“I’m Julio. I’m an Aquarius. I got struck by lightning when I was a child and now I see the world a little differently and I’m allergic to the color yellow,” opens the trailer as Julio introduces himself to a doctor. From there, he describes the dreams he’s been having lately where he feels the inner life of shapes, colors, and numbers. We get a pessimistic music artist, mermaids, men in lingerie, toilet obsessions, club scenes, Real Housewives-esque women, and a cute little blue robot.

The cast includes Martine Gutierrez, Tomas Matos, and Joe Rumrill as well as special guest stars Paul Dano, Steve Buscemi, Alexa Demie, Julia Fox, Aidy Bryant, Bowen Yang, Ziwe, Kim Petras, and Emma Stone

Fantasmas premieres June 7 on Max.
