It’s a big day for One Piece fans as their favorite pirate Monkey D. Luffy joins other iconic characters down the streets of New York City as part of the 97th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!

Viewers can tune in November 23 at 9 a.m. ET on NBC or Peacock to celebrate the most recognizable character of the beloved anime and all the fun that follows! Luffy, at 43-feet long, 39-feet wide, and 50-feet tall, will be escorted by his own pirate crew of skilled marchers from Central Park West to Herald Square.

“Over the past 24 years, One Piece has built a huge global audience and today the franchise is now more popular than ever before — both in the U.S. and around the world. We’re excited to introduce One Piece to the tens of millions of people that watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade every year — especially the friends and families of current One Piece fans,” said Masayuki Endo, President and CEO of Toei Animation Inc.

The iconic series, produced by Toei Animation, is based on the top-selling manga title of all time by Eiichiro Oda. The series first debuted on Japanese TV in October 1999. Since its inception, the One Piece franchise encompasses 15 feature films (including last year’s One Piece Film Red), this year’s Netflix live-action adaptation, video games, and an massive catalog of licensed merchandise including figures, accessories, games, furniture, housewares, apparel, and more.

Along with this news, Toei Animation announced an exclusive 3D scale model of Luffy’s balloon in their One Piece exhibit booth at next week’s New York Comic Con.
