Old Money Meets New Money In The Buccaneers Trailer
Goodbye New York, hello London!
Follow the story of a group of girls from NYC as they are invited to the debutante’s ball in London. The Buccaneers trailer, accompanied by Miya Folick’s brand new single “What We Wanna,” shows the culture clash as new money meets old money with strict manners and high expectations.
A focus on Nan St. George, played by Kristine Froseth, shows her journey traveling to London with her best friends by her side. As Olivia Rodrigo’s new song “all-american bitch” plays in the background, she runs into the charming Guy Thwarte, played by Matthew Broome. She grows weary when she takes notice that all the women are treated like numbers at a royal event. Not fond of them holding number cards, she confronts Guy Thwarte and speaks out against the tradition.
Duke of Tintagel, played by Guy Remmers, takes notice of her passion that women are human beings who are funny and smart. When they run into each other in a garden, they end up falling in love with each other. The series tackles secrets, love triangles, the stiff culture of royalty, challenging traditions, girlhood, and self-exploration… all while wearing classic 1870s dresses and corsets.
The series is led by an empowering female cast that also includes Alisha Boe as Conchita Closson, Josie Totah as Mabel Elmsworth, Aubri Ibrag as Lizzy Elmsworth, Imogen Waterhouse as Jinny St. George, Christina Hendricks as Mrs. St. George, and Mia Threapleton as Honoria Marable, as well as Josh Dylan and Barney Fishwick as Lord Richard Marable and Lord James Seadown, respectively.
The music-driven series blends the English aristocracy with modern flows packed with songs by the top female artists including Taylor Swift, Boygenius, Maggie Rogers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Alison Mosshart, Gracie Abrams, Sharon Van Etten, and Danielle Ponder. If you’re a fan of Bridgerton, chances are you’ll enjoy this series too.
The Buccaneers, inspired by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edith Wharton’s unfinished final novel, is set to make its debut on Apple TV+ with the first three episodes on November 8, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through December 13.
