Britney Spears’ Crossroads To Be Re-Released In Theaters This October
Oops, she did it again!
Twenty one years ago, pop icon Britney Spears made her film debut in Crossroads opposite Zoe Saldaña and Taryn Manning. It was based on a concept by Spears and written by a then unknown Shonda Rhimes, who went on to create Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy. Now it’s been announced that the 2002 film will be making its return to theaters to commemorate Spears’ new tell-all memoir The Women in Me, out October 24.
The two day fan event takes place October 23 and 25 and will feature a bonus sing-along of two Spears songs that have never before been played on the big screen. In addition, RCA Records plans to release a Crossroads: Special Edition soundtrack featuring three new song remixes of “Overprotected,” “ I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Women,” and “ I Love Rock ‘N Roll.” There will also be a new merchandise line featuring clothing inspired by the film.
Crossroads follows the story of three friends Lucy, Kit, and Mimi, who, after eight years apart, embark on a road trip rediscovering their friendship and purpose. Kim Cattrall and Dan Aykroyd also co-starred. Although the film generated mixed reviews, it still accumulated $61.1 million worldwide against its $12 million budget, making it a success.
Grab your tickets to the Crossroads re-release when they go on sale on September 28.
