And Just Like That: Here’s Where The Ladies Of Sex And The City Are Now

tv

Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda are back in HBO Max’s Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That. We see them transition from their wild 30s to the more complicated reality of their 50s as their stories continue, but where are the women now? Let’s explain…

CARRIE BRADSHAW

Finally happily married to Big, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) has moved on from her column to being a regular on a sex positive podcast hosted by non-binary stand up comic Che Diaz (Sarah Ramirez) and is working on writing her next book. By the end of the pilot, Big (Chris Noth) has a heart attack after an intense workout on a Peloton bike. He dies in Carrie’s arms when she finds him on the shower floor, meanwhile fans are still scratching their heads about why she didn’t call 9-1-1. This puts Carrie on a new journey grieving Big and trying to find her light again.

MIRANDA HOBBES

Known for being a career-focused lawyer, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) quit her job after the Muslim ban with a desire to find work that will help more people. She goes back to school at Columbia University to get a Masters Degree in Human Rights. Unfortunately, she finds herself in several Karen-type situations in the first few episodes and doesn’t quite fit in at her classes. She and Steve (David Eigenberg) are still together, although they are more like roommates with desserts and a son — the very sexually active 17-year-old, Brady (Niall Cunningham).

CHARLOTTE YORK

Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Henry (Evan Handler) are all about their teenage daughters: Lily (Cathy Ang), a piano prodigy, and Rose (Alexa Swinton), a rebellious tomboy. Charlotte is still very focused on image and is trying her best to go from mom friends to real friends with new character Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker).

SAMANTHA JONES

And, of course, we can’t forget about Samantha Jones! While Kim Cattrall is not returning to And Just Like That to reprise her role as the sex positive Samantha, we do learn about where she went. Carrie reveals that the state of the book industry led to her no longer needing a personal publicist. She let Samantha go professionally, and then she dumped Carrie personally. Then Samantha moved to London and began ignoring all forms of contact from her former friends… that is until she sends flowers for Big’s funeral. Will we continue to get off-screen appearances from the London-goer throughout the season? Only time will tell.

And Just Like That drops weekly on Thursdays on HBO Max. See our full season review, below:
