Alexa and Carlos PenaVega Sign Multi-Picture Deal With Hallmark Media and Tease First New Project
While some Hallmark stars have left the network for rival Great American Family, fan favorites Alexa PenaVega and Carlos PenaVega have signed a multi-picture overall deal to keep making magic with the Hallmark Media company. Alexa has been appearing on the network since 2014, while husband Carlos joined her in 2017. Pop Culture Planet spoke with the duo at Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas red carpet about the news.
“We just signed a multi-picture deal with Hallmark. We’re super excited. We’re going to be doing a bunch of movies with them. Some together, some individual,” Carlos PenaVega shared with me, before gushing: “We love Hallmark!”
Meanwhile Alexa PenaVega gave us a little tease when it comes to their first new project: a solo movie in Paris that she’ll lead. “In two weeks, I take off to Bulgaria and Paris to shoot a movie for Hallmark over there. I don’t know if I’m allowed to announced the name, but the movie does take place in Paris,” she said. “So look out for a Paris Hallmark movie.”
Spy Kids star Alexa PenaVega has previously starred in Hallmark films like Christmas Made to Order and Taking a Shot at Love, while Big Time Rush’s Carlos PenaVega led A Midnight Kiss. Together, they have starred in, Enchanted Christmas, Love at Sea, the Picture Perfect Mysteries film series, and Love in the Limelight. They also released their first book What if Love is the Point? earlier this year.
The couple are the latest Hallmark staples to sign onto a new deal with the company, along with Lacey Chabert, Jonathan Bennett, and Brennan Elliott. Both Elliott and Bennett expressed their excitement and passion for the work Hallmark allows them to do on the red carpet. “I believe in what they’re doing. I believe that if you’re an actor, a producer, a writer, or anything, you want to touch people’s lives because that’s the only thing that’s left. We get the chance to work with great scripts, great actors, a beautiful network,” said Elliott, who stars in Hallmark Channel’s The Gift Of Peace this holiday season. “And we’re really making strides with diversity and inclusion and our content is becoming deeper and more personal. I’ve done 24 movies for them and a series. I’m very blessed and I always say yes when they call.”
Meanwhile Bennett makes history starring in the first LGBTQ+ led rom-com for Hallmark Channel titled The Holiday Sitter. “I think that’s what we do at Hallmark Channel, right? We make sure everyone feels like they have a seat at the holiday table because the holidays are for everyone and make sure everyone feels seen,” he shared with me. “It’s definitely a really great place to be telling stories. There’s no place like Hallmark Channel.”
Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas airs all holiday season long from October 21 to December 18.
