Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron Are An Unlikley Pairing In Trailer for Netflix’s A Family Affair

As an unlikely pair, Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron are getting hot and heavy in Netflix's new movie A Family Affair, from the producers of Anyone But You.

In the new film, Joey King plays Zara, the former assistant to movie star Chris Cole (Efron) who finds himself relationship with her single mother Brooke (Kidman). Doesn’t this sound a little familiar? Replace "movie star" with "pop star," and you get The Idea of You. I think this is the style of rom-com we are in for this year. Zara hated her boss and describes him as “self-absorbed and selfish,” so when he starts dating her mother, it’s safe to say she isn’t rooting for the success of this relationship.

In the trailer, we watch the comical, awkward tension as Chris and Brooke start building their relationship. We even get a scene of Zara walking in on the pair having sex, only to run away screaming and hitting her head on the door. As their relationship grows, Zara doesn’t let up, saying, “He’s going to hurt her, and I will have to kill him.” But this isn’t so easy for Zara’s mother either. She is worried about the feelings she’s beginning to have for Chris. Though Zara downplays it as a “gross sexcapade,” her comment about them not being Jack and Rose shows that even she can see the connection growing between the pair.

Richard LaGravenese directs the film with a script by Carrie Solomon, while Liza Koshy and Kathy Bates also star in the film.

A Family Affair will be released on Netflix on June 27.
