Heartstopper Trailer Explores Friendship Turned Romance In Netflix LGBTQ+ Series

tv

Boy meets boy. Boys become friends. Boys fall in love.

The trailer has arrived for Netflix’s new series Heartstopper, based on the bestselling graphic novels by Alice Oseman. The eight chapter story about life, love, and everything in between follows gentle Charlie (Joe Locke) and rugby-loving Nick (Kit Connor) who meet in school where their unlikely friendship blossoms into an unexpected romance. Over the course of the season, we’ll see Charlie, Nick, and their friend circle navigate self discovery and acceptance as they support each other in being their most authentic selves. The trailer showcases a turquoise and pink color scheme reminiscent of the To All The Boys trilogy, as well as dreamy animated sequences to reflect the characters’ inner thoughts.

William Gao, Yasmin Finney, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Sebastian Croft, Cormac Hyde-Corrin, Rhea Norwood, and Tobie Donovan round out the cast, playing characters covering a range of LGBTQ+ identities.

The first season of Heartstopper drops April 22 on Netflix. See more photos from the upcoming season, below:
