Here’s Our First Look At Photos From Pretty Little Liars: Summer School
Our LiArs are back for the summer!
Now titled Pretty Little Liars: Summer School, formerly Original Sin, this is the first Pretty Little Liars spin-off to last longer than one season. The show brilliantly embraces a diverse group of Liars in Bailee Madison, Chandler Kinney, Zaria, Malia Pyles, Maia Reficco, and Mallory Bechtel, while paying tribute to both the original series and iconic horror films of the past. After huge reveals about A in season 1, Millwood will never be the same… and it looks like there’s more horrors to come in first look photos.
The new villain this season is a female figure known as Bloody Rose with a connection to season 1’s Archie Waters. “Our villain is a female figure of horror, which is something we really wanted to explore in our female-centered horror show. We also wanted our villain to feel quite apocalyptic and terrifying,” Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told Cosmopolitan, calling out Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Children of the Corn, Midsommar, and creepypasta stories as inspirations for this season.
This season finds Mouse and Ash as a power couple, while Mouse becomes obsessed with the site SpookySpagetti and exploring the lore of Archie Waters. Noa may have a summer fling with a new character from her past named Jen played by Ava Capri. Annabeth Gish even reprises her role from the original show as Dr Sullivan to lead the girls in group therapy. She helps them come to terms with having fun, flings, and summer jobs to get a chance at some normalcy. This leads to Imogen getting a summer job at an ice cream shop and falling for Johnny, played by Antonio Cipriano, while Noah Alexander Gerry plays Christian opposite Tabby at the Orpheum. Meanwhile, Farran moves away from the perfection of ballet to focus on physical strength as she ends up the only female lifeguard among a sea of guys at the pool.
Co-creator Lindsay Calhoon Bring teases a “full summer slasher fun.” “Every episode has an amazing horror element. Every one of our PLLs is put through the test,” Bring told Cosmopolitan. “We have all of the great markers of a fun summer: summer romances, summer horror, summer friendship. And, at the heart of it all, our PLLs are still the sisters that they’ve always been and stronger than ever.”
Pretty Little Liars returns for Summer School this spring to Max.
