The power of sisterhood is unbreakable in Warner Bros. newest trailer for The Color Purple.
Directed by Blitz Bazawule, The Color Purple is an upcoming musical coming-of-age film based on the book by Alice Walker and the Broadway adaptation by Marsha Norman. It follows the traumas and gradual triumph of Celie (Fantasia Barrino), an African American woman living in the south in the 1900s. Celie faces many obstacles in her life, but she finds strength in the bonds of her sisterhood. The trailer, above, showcases the beautiful costumes and star-studded cast as you can feel the power of family and resiliency through the screen with music and lyrics by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis, and Stephen Bray.
Produced by Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Scott Sanders, and Quincy Jones, the film also stars Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, H.E.R., Halle Bailey, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor.
