Would The Single Drunk Female Cast Do A Musical Episode? Plus Lily Mae Harrington Has An Original Song In Season 2!

It’s not a Single Drunk Female premiere until singer and actress Lily Mae Harrington brings down the house!

It’s no secret Harrington has a phenomenal voice after getting her start on The Glee Project. In the pilot episode of season one, her character Felicia sang Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb” during a karaoke night, while she sang Corinne Bailey Rae’s “Put Your Records On” at Sam’s taco-filled birthday party in the first episode of season two. Now she even has an original song called “The Way That It Goes” featured in the upcoming ninth episode. “It’s a little throwback… 70s inspired. It’s about a push-and-pull relationship,” Harrington told me at the Single Drunk Female premiere. “I'm so psyched that it got to be in the show. I feel so lucky and so grateful that I can be doing both things here.”

With all these musical moments, it’s a no brainer to do a musical episode in a potential season three, right? I pitched the idea to the cast on the red carpet. “I would love to do a musical episode. I'm pro-musical episode,” said creator Simone Finch, adding she’d love to hear the cast sing “Once More, with Feeling” from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Harrington is all for it, but thinks Felicia would need original songs. “I love that idea! Like another drunk Sam dream or something. I feel like Felicia would fully be singing in all dialogue,” she told me. “It would be like an original score in dialogue, you know what I mean? It wouldn't be a cover. They'd be speaking in song.”

While Sasha Compère is confident in everyone’s vocal abilities, Sofia Black-D’Elia isn’t so sure. “Lily is an amazing amazing singer. She sang in season one, season two, and also has a song in episode nine of season two. I sing. Sofia… don't let her tell you anything different. She sings. She's a singer. I have proof. I will show the world one day, but yeah I would love to do a musical episode,” said Compère, while Black-D’Elia laughed: “Whoever told you [I can sing] is lying. She's lying and that's just… I love her, [but] Sasha's so bad at singing that I seem good at singing by comparison, but none of us are good singers except Lily. I would rather never act again and that's the truth.”

“I would love to do a musical, but I don't think they want me to sing. I think they're very against me singing,” joked Garrick Bernard.

New episodes of Single Drunk Female season 2 air Wednesdays on Freeform, with the full season available on Hulu.
