Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White Keep The Von Erich Legacy Alive In A24’s The Iron Claw Trailer

One of the world’s greatest wrestling families turned into the greatest tragedy in wrestling history.

Based on the true story of the inseparable Von Erich brothers, who made history in the intensely competitive world of professional wrestling in the early 1980s, comes the new A24 film The Iron Claw.

The trailer shows the brotherhood of Kevin (Zac Efron), Kerry (Jeremy Allen White), David (Harris Dickinson), and Mike (Stanley Simons) who dominated the ring together with classic 80s haircuts and aesthetics. When his future wife Pam (Lily James) asks Kevin what he wants in life, there’s only one answer: “I want to be with my family.”

All the brothers go through intense training to uphold their family name and continue the legacy. Eventually, Kevin gets married to the girl of his dreams and is expecting their first child. With the brothers on top, everything seems to be going great. But things take a turn for the worst when their three-time World Champion coach and father Fritz Von Erich (Holt McCallany) becomes too demanding of them.

By being pushed to their limits, unfortunate events follow in what is speculated as “The Von Erich Curse.” After losing one of their brothers, Kevin struggles to keep pursuing wrestling, not disappointing his father, and maintaining a happy family of his own. Maura Tierney, Brady Pierce, Kevin Anton, and Cazzey Louis Cereghino round out the cast.

The Iron Claw premieres in theaters on December 22.
