The Surprise Sequel Moana 2 Hits Theaters This November

We were Voyagers! That’s right, prepare to embark on your next expedition as Disney has officially announced the sequel to the 2016 animated film Moana. This surprise announcement by Bob Iger, Disney's CEO, shares that Moana will reach theaters this Thanksgiving.

Though it was originally announced as a series in 2020, Moana 2 will take audiences on a new adventure with Moana, Maui, and a few new friends of unlikely seafarers. Moana receives an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors that causes her to embark on a journey to the far sea through dangerous and forgotten waters. We have yet to see Moana face anything like this.

Dave Derrick Jr. directs the sequel —and we know you are all curious about the music — which is written by Grammy winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa'i, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina.

Gear up for the next voyage in Moana 2, coming to theaters on November 27.
