Peacock Announces The Burbs Starring Keke Palmer
Keke Palmer is set to star in a TV adaptation of the dark comedy film The Burbs, which has been ordered straight-to-series at Peacock.
The Burbs was a 1989 film that starred Tom Hanks, Carrie Fisher, Bruce Dern, Rick Ducommun, and Corey Feldman. It followed the residents of a suburban neighborhood as they suspect their new neighbors are ritualistic murderers. The Burbs is now hailed as a cult classic.
Viral TikTok Series Who TF Did I Marry? Gets TV Adaptation
Natasha Rothwell is developing a TV adaptation of Who TF Did I Marry?, a viral TikTok series by Tareasa Johnson from earlier this year.
Rothwell will star as Johnson as well as executive produce the series. In the TikTok series, Johnson chronicles her relationship with her ex-husband, who she describes as a pathological liar.
Midnight Sun Officially in Development
Hold on tight, spider monkey! The animated series based on Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight novel Midnight Sun has been given a straight-to-series order at Netflix. It serves as a retelling of the first Twilight book from the perspective of Edward Cullen rather than Bella Swan.
Phantom Of The Opera Gets YA Movie Reimagination at Disney+
Disney+ is in early development on Phantom, a YA movie reimagination of the classic novel The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux. The project will be led by Kenny Ortega, who has led none other than High School Musical and The Descendants.
The 1909 novel, set in the 1880s, tells the story of Erik, a mysterious, disfigured musical genius who lives beneath the Paris Opera House. He becomes obsessed with young soprano Christine and manipulates events to make her the star of the opera.
