Locke And Key Season 2: Who Is Frederick Gideon? The History Of The Lockes Explained!

tv

We know the Locke family had a long legacy in Matheson, Massachusetts, but, in season 2 of Locke & Key, we learn that history goes all the way back to the American Revolution in 1775. In flashbacks, we dive deeper into the past to explore the first demon to infiltrate Matheson, how the Lockes became the “keepers of the keys,” and are introduced to a new big bad for season 3 — Captain Frederick Gideon. But just who is he?

Back in 1775, the Lockes were blacksmiths who would develop weapons for American soldiers and supported the goal for independence from Britain. During a weapon resupply, a high ranking soldier in the British army named Frederick Gideon shows up at Keyhouse with soldiers to look into the activities of the Lockes. A battle breaks out and Gideon and his men hide out in the sea caves, where he unknowingly open up the demonic portal. Once he learns what the iron bullets can do, he embraces the power for himself, allowing himself to be hit and transformed.

Now in modern day, a demon-possessed Eden brings Captain Gideon back using the Echo key with plans to use him as a puppet in her plans for domination. BUT she underestimated which upper level demon had taken over Gideon… one who proves he can’t be controlled.
