Mouse Gets Scary Sweet 16 In Pretty Little Liars: Summer School Episode 3, Plus Imogen's Bloody Rose Nightmare Theory!
Move over Freddy Fazbear and Chuck E Cheese, Rose E. Ricotta is coming for you!
In Pretty Little Liars: Summer School episode 3, the Liars plan a surprise sweet 16 for Mouse’s (Malia Pyles) birthday that goes terribly wrong. We kick off with their new phone numbers being leaked onto Spooky Spaghetti, which means Bloody Rose finally has a way to contact them directly. Despite that threat, love is in the air for all of our Liars!
Imogen’s (Bailee Madison) job at the diner is shortlived as she gets a new gig at the Millwood Creamery. This sets her up for a potential summer fling with her player of a co-worker Johnny, played by new addition to the cast Antonio Cipriano. It turns out he’s even looked up Imogen on Spooky Spaghetti, which makes me more curious about the site. Who is running it? Could it be someone actually connected with A, or Rose, or even this weird church? There’s also a very interesting inception-style dream that Imogen has where she starts mixing up Bloody Rose and her late mother in her head. It makes me wonder why she specifically is having these dreams. Could there actually be a connection between Rose and Imogen’s mom?
Faran (Zaria) is being a total badass this summer at the pool. This episode, she realizes she doesn’t need to be one of the guys. She ends up saving a girl at the pool and comes into her own as a boss. The newfound confidence even encourages her to finally be honest with Henry about the fact that she’s been cleared to dance and just doesn’t want to anymore. I love this new energy for her and she’s quickly becoming one of the stand out Liars.
Meanwhile I feel like Noa (Maia Reficco) is getting the short end of the stick this season. She has a connection brewing with Jen (Ava Capri), but I also feel like she’s not good for her, which we see when she steals money from the till at Pinball Pizza. Why is she bringing that juvie energy here? It’s just getting Noa caught up in drama for no reason when she has so many other things going on the are truly life or death. Unless… is this all part of her plan and she’s in on Bloody Rose?
Tabby (Chandler Kinney) and Christian (Noah Alexander Gerry) have been bonding over their love of horror, but things take a turn when she finds masks he made of both A and Bloody Rose in his basement. It turns out he’s a Spooky Spaghetti head too… which feels concerning. Is it possible he is a copy of Chip or connected to him in some way? It does seem very on the nose that the next person who works at the Orpheum is a horror fan who bonds with Tabby so quickly just like Chip. Talk about a red flag!
With all the chaos, the girls tell Mouse it’s not a great idea to have a birthday party for her, which leaves her feeling sad and like her friends don’t really like her. But it’s all a ploy to hide the fact that they are throwing the cutest Xanadu themes roller skating birthday party for her. Both the theme and costuming were immaculate. I love that this show is pulling from the roots of the original Pretty Little Liars in that the fashion is always top tier.
Unfortunately Mouse doesn’t get a chance to celebrate her birthday because her grandmother drops her off at Rose E. Ricotta instead of the roller skating rink. Instead of a party, Mouse is officially the first Liar to be targeted by Bloody Rose this season. There’s a note for her saying this is her birthday final girl test. She runs from Bloody Rose and gets caught in a fire that burns the restaurant to the ground. Luckily she climbs through the vents to escape just as her friends arrive to try to save her. This begs the question as to why Mouse’s grandmother brought her here and who told her to do it. There is something strange going on with Mouse’s grandmother which has me worried.
This episode has me reeling when it comes to who is behind Bloody Rose and how it’s all connected the Liars. Chip’s mom continues to be a suspect for me just because of all the focus on Tabby and Imogen’s trauma. But there’s also these weird recurring dreams that Imogen keeps having connecting her mom and Bloody Rose. I feel like there’s something important there, but honestly everyone is suspicious at this point.
