Like Mother, Like Daughter! Brooke Shields and Miranda Cosgrove Star In The Mother Of The Bride Trailer
There are some connections that can never be erased. Even if you try and move on with your life, one slip up can resurface all those feelings. Netflix has released the trailer for their newest rom-com Mother of the Bride. It’s directed by Mark Waters, the filmmaker behind Mean Girls and Freaky Friday, and written by Robin Bernheim, known for the Princess Switch trilogy.
In the trailer, Emma (Miranda Cosgrove) surprises her mother Lana (Brooke Shields) with news of her engagement and her fast-approaching wedding. Things quickly become complicated when Lana encounters Will (Benjamin Bratt), her first love and greatest heartbreak. Will also happens to be the father of Emma’s fiancé RJ (Sean Teale) — you can see how things might get complicated, right?
Despite their attempts to ignore it, there's undeniable chemistry between Lana and Will, and they constantly find themselves drawn to each other. Lana catches the eye of a man named Lucas (Chad Michael Murray), but she seems uninterested, though her sister Janice (Rachael Harris) eagerly accepts on her behalf, advising, “You have to play it cool. Let him see what he’s missed, but don’t let him know you care.” Yet, Lana struggles to move on from Will, considering they "were everything to each other." Lana battles her feelings for Will, but is it time she dives into what makes her happy instead of running from it?
The film also features Michael McDonald, Wilson Cruz, Tasneem Roc, and Dalip Sondhi.
Can the Mother of the Bride find her own story of love? The film is set to release on May 9, exclusively on Netflix.
