Camp Half-Blood, rejoice!

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is officially moving forward as an original series at Disney+.

Adapted from the popular book series by Rick Riordan, the show follows the story of 12-year-old Percy Jackson who learns he’s a demigod. When Zeus accuses him of stealing his lightning bolt, he goes on a journey to find it and restore order to Olympus. Riordan and Jon Steinberg are writing the pilot, while James Bobin, who directed and executive produced The Mysterious Benedict Society and Dora and the Lost City of Gold, will direct.

“We’re deep into creating a compelling TV series worthy of the heroic mythological characters that millions of Percy Jackson readers know are well-worth caring about, and we’re eager to invite Disney+ audiences into stories that are true to the blockbuster franchise and full of anticipation, humor, surprise, and mystery,” said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television.

Previously, the Percy Jackson series had been adapted into two films: Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters starring Logan Lerman and Alexandra Daddario.
