Who Are The Top Suspects in Only Murders In The Building Season 4 Episode 2?

tv

Is the murderer in the building with us? Episode two of Only Murders In The Building unearths a long list of potential murder suspects. Lucky for you, we’ve got our magnifying glass at the ready.

The team is scratching their heads trying to figure out who would want Steve Martin’s character dead. All the group has to work with are scribbled notes Sazz left behind, which include a string of numbers, the name “Dudenoff,” and a paper that mentions Charles. While Charles waits to report Sazz’s murder and goes through the notes taken from her apartment, Mabel and Oliver venture to the west end of The Arconia to investigate who could have fired the bullet that killed her.

Episode two introduced us to more quirky Arconia tenants who are definitely holding secrets, but whether they’re murderers remains to be seen. The episode ends on chilling cliffhanger when Oliver realizes the string of numbers Sazz left behind was actually letters that spelled out “Oh Hell.” This is the same game the West Wing Arconians play every night as a group. With Sazz seemingly a guest at the West Wing game nights, the mystery slowly begins to unravel. However, several questions remain about the wacky west end of the building: Who would want Charles dead? Who is Dudenoff? Why won’t Inez talk about Dudenoff? And how did Sazz know Dudenoff?

Let’s discuss all the potential murderers in the building.

Stink Eye Joe

Charles refers to his neighbor as Stink Eye Joe because he is always glaring at Charles from his window. When Mabel and Oliver venture to the west side to meet Stink Eye Joe, they quickly realize that poor Stink Eye Joe is actually… Pink Eye Joe.

Richard Kind guest stars as a quirky old man who suffers from a bacterial eye infection. From the start, his character comes off as someone who seemingly wouldn’t hurt a fly. The only suspicious clue against Joe is his comment about watching people from his window as if they were ants and imagining “squishing them.” Weird? Definitely. Heartless sniper who shot Sazz? Probably not. However, we’ll keep our eyes on Pink Eye Joe.

The Sauce Family

Daphne Rubin-Vega, Lilian Rebelo, and Desmin Borges guest star as a family that is always stirring something in the kitchen whenever Charles looks over at them, which leads Charles to conveniently name them “The Sauce Family.” Pink Eye Joe brings Mabel and Oliver to the Sauce Family's apartment to play their favorite card game, “Oh Hell."

Rubin-Vega stars as Inez, a bubbly mother who has a celebrity crush on Charles, much to her husband Alfonso's dismay. Borges plays Alfonso who comes off as slightly bothered by his wife's crush, but their teenage daughter (played by Rebelo) seems most annoyed by it. As Mabel and Oliver play "Oh Hell," each member of the group leaves to use the knife in the bathroom. If you're confused reading that sentence, you're not alone.

Once Oliver and Mabel are invited into this secretive bathroom, they find a large pig hanging from the shower rod. While storing a dead pig in your bathroom to snack on is definitely strange, and probably a lease violation, this odd bunch of tenants might be in the clear. However, they're definitely hiding things from the podcasters. For instance, when Mabel asks who lives in the apartment next door, the daughter says that's the Dudenoff residence, but Inez quickly shuts down the conversation. Why won't anyone talk about this mysterious neighbor? How did Sazz know Dudenoff? What are they hiding?

Jan

Amy Ryan makes a shocking return as Jan, the infamous killer from season one. In this episode, Jan surprises Charles by jumping out of his coat closet, covered in blood.

Jan broke out of prison to find Sazz after not hearing from her for a while. After Charles delivers the news to her, Jan flees, knowing the cops will consider her the prime suspect. While Jan’s killing roster is high and she has tried to kill Charles in the past, it doesn’t seem likely that she’s the killer this season. Not only did she love Sazz, it would also be a major cop-out to make her the murderer again. With that, Jan becomes the least likely murder suspect.

Check back in with us next week as we break down more of this puzzling season of Only Murders In The Building, with new episodes dropping weekly on Hulu.
