Heartstopper Season 2 Pulls Your Favorite Scenes Straight From The Graphic Novels

tv

It’s no secret that Netflix’s hit show Heartstopper is a very true adaptation of Alice Oseman's graphic novels. Drawing inspiration from the comics to create plot lines, characters, and sets, the show expands upon the story in the books while adding more drama and subplots. In season two, we see the Heartstopper crew journey to Paris for a school trip, navigate coming out, attending prom, and growing closer with friends and partners. This season has many heart-stopping moments that bring the comics to life. Pop Culture Planet contributor Jordan Bohan breaks down the best on-screen moments that come straight from the page.

Carry On

When the Heartstopper gang heads to Paris, Nick and Charlie are only out to their friends. Sneaking kissing behind closed doors, the couple gets interrupted by Darcy and Tara where she recites the iconic line, “You’re being gay. Good job. Carry on.”

Holding Hands

During their school trip to Paris, the boys share a room. Tao claims a separate bed from Isaac, forcing Nick and Charlie to sleep apart. There’s a sweet moment where Nick and Charlie fall asleep holding hands across the space between the beds.

The Mona Lisa

The friend group takes a trip to the Louvre, with art lovers Elle and Tao having the time of their life. The group comes across the Mona Lisa as Darcy points out her disappointment with the iconic painting.

Love Bite

One of the funniest moments of the season is when Nick accidentally gives Charlie a love bite. The morning after the couple had a romantic moment, Charlie notices a hickey as he brushes his teeth. Nick apologizes to Charlie and points out that everyone will notice.

First Kiss

With the majority of season one focusing on the growing relationship between Nick and Charlie, Tao and Elle gain more focus this season. The couple shares a romantic first kiss in Paris at the Louvre.

Mon Amour

A surprising element this season was the realization that Nick spoke fluent french. There are multiple scenes where his friends learn of his bilingual skill, but Charlie’s reaction is the funniest and sweetest of them all. When Nick realizes that Charlie finds his language skills quite attractive, he calls him “mon amour.”

Vending Machine

Another budding romance of this season was that of school teachers Mr. Farouk and Mr. Ajayi. They have a sweet moment after catching Nick and Charlie kissing in the hallway as Mr. Ajayi reflects on his younger days. Mr. Farouk reveals he didn’t come out until much later in life, missing out on youthful romantic moments.

Recharging

Within the confines of their Paris hotel room, Charlie and Nick share many vulnerable and sweet moments. One of the most beloved fan reactions was to Nick hugging Charlie saying he was just “recharging.”

You Jealous?

A big thread throughout this season was Nick slowly coming out to his friends and family. While on the Eiffel Tower, Nick gives a sly comeback to one of the Rugby boys about Charlie’s hickey. The moment in the show has become prevalent in fandom edits with viewers loving the confidence and sass.

I’m Bi, Actually

“I’m bi, actually” is the phrase continuously said by Nick as he comes out. He constantly has to clarify his sexuality when people first assumed he was straight and now assume he is gay just because he’s dating Charlie. The moment he comes out to his brother, or is forced to, is the moment he really gains confidence and self security.

Heartstopper is streaming on Netflix.
