Harold Perrineau Talks Monsters Bullying Boyd and Big Fears Come True In FROM Season 3
FROM puts us at the center of a mystery in a nightmarish town that traps all those who enter. Following season 2's shocking cliffhanger, escape becomes a very real — but dangerous — possibility as the town’s true nature comes into focus. Pop Culture Planet’s Kristen Maldonado spoke with FROM star Harold Perrineau about this thrilling new third season.
While past seasons have seen the monsters of this town eagerly kill the people captive there when nightfall hits, this new season adds a new element as they seek to mess with Boyd’s mind. “We don't talk about it in the season, but it's the undertone. It's the reason that the monsters don't move fast. We mentioned it once. They don't move fast ‘cause they don't have to. They're going to get you,” Perrineau told me. “Like, ‘I don't have to run. I'm going to get you. There's no place for you to go.’”
“While I consider that Boyd is probably one of the most dangerous ones there and they should get rid of him, they're like, ‘For what? It's going to be fun. Watch how he squirms and struggles and fights himself ‘cause he thinks he's going to win, but he's not.’ For whatever reason, they're enjoying it,” he revealed about this new level of the monsters playing with their food. “I don't know what's going on in John Griffin's brain that would make you like do a thing where a town is teasing the toughest guy around, but that's what they're doing. That's the thing. I think that they're doing it because they're like, ‘Yeah, bring your A game.’ It's terrible. They suck.”
Everything is changing this season, which also brings new horrors. “There's one thing that happens — I don't know if it's in the sixth episode — that literally every time I went to close my eyes to go to sleep it would pop back in my brain because t's my own personal fear. That really sucked if I'm being really honest,” he teased. “That's when I was questioning my career choices. I'm really like, could have been a dolphin trainer maybe? It was pretty tricky.”
While many shows have been having a hard time staying afloat, Perrineau is grateful to be able to continue telling the story of FROM. “Like everybody else, I want to know what's happening. I want to know why the show is called FROM. I want to know and we're getting that opportunity,” he shared. “I'm wildly thankful to MGM+ for rolling with us again and again and again.”
FROM returns for season 3 on September 22 on MGM+.
