My Best Friend’s Exorcism Trailer Delivers 80s Nostalgia and Demonic Friendship

In My Best Friend’s Exorcism, the year is 1988 and high school best friends Abby and Gretchen find themselves in a supernatural disaster when Gretchen is possessed by a demon. While most exorcism stories focus on the evil taking hold and treat the person possessed as just a vessel, this story tells Gretchen’s journey and the idea that having faith in a strong female bond could be strong enough to save someone. But is their friendship powerful enough to beat this evil?

Based on Grady Hendrix’s 2016 horror novel My Best Friend’s Exorcism, the trailer promises dark humor, 80s nostalgia, and a dose of demonic vomit for good measure. Hendrix even penned the movie adaptation.

Directed by Damon Thomas, the film stars Elsie Fisher (Eighth Grade), Amiah Miller (War for the Planet of the Apes), Cathy Ang (Over The Moon, And Just Like That…), Cynthia Evans (Stargirl), Christopher Lowell (Veronica Mars, GLOW), and Rachel Ogechi Kanu.

My Best Friend’s Exorcism drops on September 30 on Prime Video.
