Apple TV+ Announces Season 2 Renewal For The Buccaneers

Acclaimed drama The Buccaneers, inspired by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edith Wharton’s final novel, has been renewed for a second season on Apple TV+. Since it’s season one premiere this past November, The Buccaneers has caught attention for being a fresh take on the grand period drama genre.

Girls with money, men with power. New money, old secrets. This Bridgerton-esque period drama transports viewers to 1870’s London to follow a group of fun loving young American girls. These girls stray far from the centuries of tradition London has held, kicking off an Anglo-American culture clash in the land of the stiff upper lip. Sent to secure husbands and titles, the buccaneers’ hearts are set on much more than that, and saying “I do” is just the beginning…

Series creator Katherine Jakeways has been blown away by the love her show has received in the short month it has been out. “It’s been a complete thrill to watch people all over the world fall in love with these characters, who’ve been brought to such vibrant life by our spectacular cast,” Jakeways said in a statement. “We know season one left audiences desperate to know what’s next for our buccaneers, so I’m absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to explore the further adventures of this smart, joyful, messy sisterhood.”

Jay Hunt, creative director of Apple TV+ Europe, was happy to see that “the irreverence and wit of The Buccaneers charmed global audiences.” We’re excited to be working with Katherine Jakeways and The Forge again on the next adventure for Nan and her friends,” he said."

The series stars Kristine Frøseth as Nan St. George, Alisha Boe as Conchita Closson, Josie Totah as Mabel Elmsworth, Aubri Ibrag as Lizzy Elmsworth, and Imogen Waterhouse as Jinny St. George, with Emmy Award winner Christina Hendricks is Mrs. St. George. The ensemble also includes Mia Threapleton as Honoria Marable, Josh Dylan as Lord Richard Marable, Guy Remmers as Theo, Duke of Tintagel, Matthew Broome as Guy Thwarte, and Barney Fishwick as Lord James Seadown.

The Buccaneers season one is streaming on Apple TV+ now. See our interview with the cast, below.
