High School Musical: The Musical: The Series To Take Its Final Bow With Season 4 Trailer
It’s now or never for the Wildcats as High School Musical: The Musical: The Series announces its fourth and final season.
In a statement on Instagram, showrunner Tim Federle shared all eight episodes will be available at once to binge watch. “After four years at East High, it’s time to graduate. This will be out final, endgame season,” he wrote. “This show brought the most extraordinary cast — and crew, and collaborators — into my life. To all the fans who embraced our super-meta series: we ‘don’t not love you.’”
Now, after spending the third season at camp, the Wildcats are returning to school for their senior year. As they prep for a production of High School Musical 3: Senior Year, they get a meta-surprise when Disney announces that a High School Musical 4: The Reunion movie will shoot on location at their school. Original cast members Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, Lucas Grabeel, Kaycee Stroh, Bart Johnson, and Alyson Reed return to play themselves, while our HSMTMTS cast get the chance to be featured extras.
Back in 2021, Coleman told Pop Culture Planet that she’d be open to returning to the franchise if it made sense. “I can't really imagine or know where we would fit into all of that, but I would be open to it,” she said. “I’m open to seeing what that could be.”
Coleman gushed about what “an amazing job” the new team did with High School Musical: The Musical: The Series after all these years. “Over the years, there have been so many rumors and false started where it was whispered about that something could happen,” she told me. “I feel like they really did pick the perfect way to continue the franchise and I'm so excited for the new class and the new generation of young people and them getting to be a part of that magic.”
Joshua Bassett, Sofia Wylie, Dara Reneé, Julia Lester, Frankie Rodriguez, Kate Reinders, and Liamani Segura star, while Kylie Cantrall, Matthew Sato, Caitlin Reilly, and Vasthy Mompoint have recurring guest roles. Mark St. Cyr, Matt Cornett, Larry Saperstein, Joe Serafini, Adrian Lyles, and Saylor Bell Curda also appear.
Check out the teaser, above, and binge watch the fourth season when it drops August 9 on Disney+.
