Catalina Sandino Moreno On Tabitha Escaping Town, Victor's Clues, and Easter Eggs In FROM Season 3

In FROM season 3, Tabitha has somehow escaped the nightmarish town that traps its residents… but only for so long. As she returns with Victor’s father, there are more mysteries in store — and the town’s true nature slowly comes into focus. Pop Culture Planet’s Kristen Maldonado spoke with FROM star Catalina Sandino Moreno about this terrifying new season.

Over these past three seasons, Moreno’s Tabitha is the only character who has been able to leave Fromville… but why? “That's going to definitely be an answer this season why Tabatha was able to leave town. Everything is going to make sense at the end of the season. Everything has a reason why,” she told me. “Nothing is gratuitous and I love that about this series because nothing is just because. Everything has a reason and this season you're going to find a lot of answers.”

The terrors of this town and the tricks it plays connect back to the actors own fears. “When she leaves town, she doubts if that's reality. She doubts if this is another game of the town that its putting in her mind. That's my worst fear. What would happen if you lose your mind? If you don't have any capability of recognizing good from bad or the people that you love or like forget names or forget where you are, forget to swallow, forget to go to the bathroom. Alzheimers is like terrifying to me or any kind of psychosis,” Moreno opened up about how she felt leaving Fromville and not trusting what Tabitha experienced was real. “I think that's terrifying and I think that's something that I experience playing Tabitha this season ‘cause she doesn't know if this is the real outside world. She doesn't know if this is real, she doesn't know if this is another game, so that's terrifying to me.”

People are calling Tabitha “the chosen one” and she thinks it makes sense. “I don't think anyone can just go through the tree and come out the other side. In season one, Victor explains to Ethan with a rock. We throw this rock here and it just appears somewhere else and suddenly drops behind them. You never know when you're going to end up,” Moreno explained. “It has a mind of its own and it just takes you wherever the tree wants. For me to be able to leave town… you have to see season two where it's a lot of suffering with the kids, it's a lot of suffering with her inner family, and then she starts seeing these children that are terrifying but it's all in connection. The little eggs [are] everywhere. If you go back to season two when you finish the season, you're like, ‘Oh, right, it makes sense.’”

Moreno teases that there are tons of Easter eggs in the series — even her son loves finding them! “They have so many Easter eggs, which I love, because my child loves the show and then when he goes back he's like what about that and what about this. [It’s] little things that the creators and the producers just play in perfect moments for the people that are really watching in the show. The little egg hunt. They will find it. They will find a lot,” she said. “He wants me to tell what happens and what what the end I'm like I don't know you just have to wait until the episodes come out.”

She also hinted at the importance of Victor’s role in the trajectory of the story. “Victor is the character that knows more about the town because he's been there for a very long time. For Tabatha to find Victor's dad, I think that's a very cool connection and you'll see why it was Victor's dad throughout the season. Victor has a lot of clues inside his head that still needs unlocking and I think part of the unlocking is to be with the right person, to talk to the right moment because we've seen Victor evade the questions. He's like, ‘No, no, no, no, no, it's too much. It's too much,’ which is overwhelming to him,” she revealed. “I think this season he's going to give us a lot and it's going to be a lot with his father. It's going be great. You're going to love it.”
