Everything You Need To Know Before Upload Season 3
Upload season 2 left us with a major cliffhanger and some unanswered questions about the technologically advanced world of Lakeview. With season three of Upload around the corner, let’s break down some of the highlights from last season to refresh your memory.
At the Ludd compound, Nora (Andy Allo) tries to find her footing in the group and meets community leader Matteo (Paulo Costanzo.) Meanwhile, Nathan (Robbie Amell) is searching for what happened to Nora and who tried to kill her. After Nathan and Ingrid (Allegra Edwards) have a talk about their relationship, we learn that Nora, using public VR, hacked into their conversation, ultimately leading her back to Matteo. It’s also revealed that Ingrid is not actually dead, just wearing a sex suit in her bathtub. She also wants to take their relationship to the next level by staring a real family with… a clone body she’s been growing of Nathan.
After realizing Choak (William B. Davis) is behind Nathan’s murder because Nathan was working on a free digital afterlife, Aleesha (Zainab Johnson) and Nora go to New York City to investigate Choak’s plan by following Nathan around using web alerts to keep track of his location. This leads to Nora’s discovery that Freeyond locations are primarily in swing states where uploads don’t have the right to vote — a plan to oppress the poor.
However, the mission only gets more intense as Choak used Nathan’s code to develop Freeyond in the first place. Desperate to find allies, Nora returns to the Ludds for help. A new plan arises after learning Ingrid’s body double of Nathan is almost completed. Faced with one solution, Nathan must download into his body and use his retina scan — a loophole into the code — to stop Freeyond. The plan is successful, despite Ingrid trying to destroy the body.
The finale shows Nathan and Nora making out in their cramped train compartment, amid ending his relationship with Ingrid. At the same time, after Aleesha’s promotion, her intern Tinsley (Mackenzie Cardwell) finds out that Nathan isn’t in Lakeview and has no record of him leaving. Her co-worker tells her to restart the system and not tell anyone about it. Afterwards, a worried Nathan looks into the mirror as his nose bleeds alluding to the download rejection process happening faster than usual.
