Tell Me Lies Season 2 Is Twisted and Addicting

tv

Nothing captures the drama of college life quite like Tell Me Lies. What was initially planned to be a mini series adaptation of Carola Lovering’s book is now a Hulu original on its second season. Twists and turns are revealed every episode making this fast paced drama one of the most addicting series today.

In season one, Stephen (Jackson White) and Lucy (Grace Van Patten) were the stars with their twisted relationship taking complete control of both of their lives and eventually entangling all of their friends. In season two, more of the side characters take shape and develop into more complex and real people. This new season unpacks double the secrets and lies with new and returning characters, revealing twists at every turn.

This new season continues on both storylines that the first one showed, following them both as college aged students and where they are at Bree (Catherine Missal) and Evan’s (Branded Cook) wedding years later. This use of dual timelines shows a sneak peek into where they will all end up, but not exactly how they got there. The first bombshell we learn in the later years is that Pippa and Diana are in a relationship, one that Diana is not ready to share.

One of the main themes of the new season is power. How one gets it, keeps it, and abuses it. Lucy faces the power Stephen had over her during their freshman year in their toxic and tumultuous relationship that never really seems like it’s over. Diana (Alicia Crowder) faces it as she sees how Stephen is using her and her dad to build a career for himself.

Pippa (Sonia Mena) experiences a loss of power after she wakes up from a drunken night with no memory of what happened. Bree begins growing increasingly close with a professor (Tom Ellis) from the University that causes the two to reevaluate their relationship when the dynamic flips as a secret between the two is revealed. Wrigley (Spencer House) loses his sense of self when he can’t play football after his injury.

Leo (Thomas Doherty) is a sweet surprise this season, playing Lucy’s new love interest who just returned from a semester abroad. His intriguing first impression leads to a more healthy relationship for Lucy, while he still harbors secrets of his own. Doherty thrives in roles where he is charming but also a bit elusive. The actor has a way of dominating the screen in a way that is equally intimidating and charming.

Each character this season goes through quite a journey in attempting to find themselves, something every college student does at that age. Each mistake, secret, and lie eventually comes to light exposing who they really are. The true friends are the ones that stick around and see you for the person they know you to be and don’t judge or define you by the mistakes made as a young adult.

Tell Me Lies is the most addicting show filled with drama, scandal, and sex. Each character dives deeper into their past while making mistakes in the present. The dual timeline gives just enough of a peek into the future to keep you engaged and guessing until the very last episode.

Tell Me Lies season two is streaming on Hulu.
